Group products and secure packs with shrink film

The tray and shrink wrapping system from Ferrum Group is an automated end-of-line packaging machine that collates products such as bottles, cans, jars, or cartons into multipacks and stabilises them using shrink film, with or without a supporting tray or pad.

Products are first grouped into the required pack configuration (e.g. 6, 12, or 24 units). Depending on the setup, a corrugated tray or pad is formed or positioned underneath the products to provide additional structural support. The grouped products are then wrapped in shrink film and passed through a heat shrink tunnel, where controlled hot air causes the film to contract tightly around the pack.

The system supports multiple packaging formats, including film-only, pad + film, and tray + film configurations, allowing you to balance material usage, pack stability, and cost. This flexibility makes the machine suitable for both lightweight multipacks and heavier or more fragile products requiring additional support.

With capacities of up to 60 packs per minute, the machine is designed for medium to high-speed production lines. Servo-driven control systems ensure accurate product grouping and smooth transport through the wrapping and shrinking stages.

The shrink tunnel uses a circulating hot-air system with thermal insulation, ensuring consistent shrink performance and uniform film tension. The result is a tightly wrapped pack with minimal wrinkles and stable bottom overlap, suitable for palletising and transport.

The system is compatible with transparent and printed shrink films (50–90 microns) and includes monitoring features such as film supply detection to prevent unplanned downtime. It integrates with upstream case packing or labelling systems and downstream palletising operations.
