Picking cookies straight from the oven into packaging
If you’re used to mechanical alignment and fixed pitch, this is a different way of thinking:
products don’t need to be perfect—they just need to be visible and reachable.
Products leave the oven randomly spaced, slightly rotated. From there, everything becomes an effort to correct that flow before packaging.
The Cookiebot from Royal Houdijk takes a different approach:
don’t correct the product—handle it as it comes.
Handling different formats, without fixing the flow
The video below doesn’t walk through one continuous line. Instead, it shows what the system is capable of.
You see different handling principles applied to the same type of product:
- product inspection
- slug in flow wrap
- slug in tray
- portion pack
- change slug gripper to vacuum gripper
- pile in plastic tray
- pile in carton tray
Each setup solves a slightly different packaging requirement, without relying on perfectly aligned infeed.
Direct infeed into wrapping
At the end, watch the direct infeed into a PFM flow wrapper at 300 packs / minute with a speed variation between 0 to 120%.
Instead of transferring products through multiple alignment steps, the system builds the correct grouping and feeds it straight into the wrapper. That reduces the need for intermediate handling—and with it, a common source of stops and adjustments.
